ZR Southcombe is a writer & artist for the young and not-so-young. She loves stories with magic, adventure, and a good dose of humour. As a child, ZR was a prolific reader. Her greatest heroes were those of fiction, and the men and women who created them.
Beyond writing, Zee has a passion for learning and loves working with children and teens. She has been teaching since she gained her Bachelor of Education in 2009, and loves the way children look at the world. Zee adamantly believes that children are far more intelligent than most grown-ups give them credit for.
Zee also has a vested interest in mental health and well-being, and believes this is becoming more important to children and young adults. She’s passionate about building confidence, self-esteem, coping strategies and a strong sense of identity in young people, and has personal experience with depression and anxiety.
A true creative, Zee is a jill-of-all-trades and loves painting, yoga, playing her ukulele and shiny new ideas. She lives with her partner and her cat in New Zealand, the most beautiful country in the world.
